Ham and Cheese Butter Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 310g (2 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 13g (1 tbsp) granulated sugar
  • 13g (1 1/2 tbsp) baking powder
  • 415ml (1 3/4 cups) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)
  • 250g (2 1/2 cups) small-diced ham
  • 170g (1 1/2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 115g (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Add the buttermilk and mix until a thick batter forms. If it’s too dry, add more buttermilk.
  4. Gently fold in the diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.
  5. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Spread the dough evenly in the pan.
  7. Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife, then bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let the biscuits cool for 5 minutes before cutting.
  9. Serve warm with butter or honey.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped green onions or herbs. Use sharp cheddar for bolder taste. Bake longer for a crispier texture. Substitute regular milk with lemon juice for buttermilk.
