Ingredients
- 310g (2 1/2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 13g (1 tbsp) granulated sugar
- 13g (1 1/2 tbsp) baking powder
- 415ml (1 3/4 cups) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)
- 250g (2 1/2 cups) small-diced ham
- 170g (1 1/2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese
- 115g (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
- Add the buttermilk and mix until a thick batter forms. If it’s too dry, add more buttermilk.
- Gently fold in the diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.
- Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the dough evenly in the pan.
- Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife, then bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the biscuits cool for 5 minutes before cutting.
- Serve warm with butter or honey.
Notes
For extra flavor, add chopped green onions or herbs. Use sharp cheddar for bolder taste. Bake longer for a crispier texture. Substitute regular milk with lemon juice for buttermilk.
