Ingredients
- 450 g ground beef
- 200 g long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 720 ml low-sodium beef broth
- 1 small onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 45 g butter
- 120 g shredded cheddar cheese
- 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
- 120 ml milk
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat 15 g butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart, until evenly browned. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Incorporate the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until aromatic.
- Stir in uncooked rice, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 18 to 20 minutes until rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the remaining 30 g butter. Add milk, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.
- Pour the cheese sauce into the skillet with the beef and rice mixture. Stir thoroughly until fully integrated.
- Cook uncovered for 2 to 3 minutes to meld flavors. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.
Notes
For added flavor, ensure onions are sautéed until translucent. You can adjust seasonings to taste, especially for garlic lovers.
