Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 120 grams yellow onion, diced
- 227 grams tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 12 grams brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 60 milliliters ketchup
- 8 frozen garlic toast slices
- 115 grams cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onions, cooking until beef is browned throughout and onions are tender. Remove excess grease from skillet.
- Incorporate tomato sauce, ketchup, prepared mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir thoroughly, then reduce heat and simmer for several minutes until flavors meld.
- Lay frozen garlic toast slices on a baking sheet. Distribute the sloppy joe mixture evenly over each slice and top generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for 10–15 minutes, or until bread is hot and cheese has melted. If the cheese begins to brown before the toast is thoroughly heated, loosely cover with foil and continue to bake until heated through.
Notes
For extra flavor, sauté the onions until caramelized. Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Customize with toppings like jalapeños or different cheeses.
